I love to write. Once in a while I will get a spurt of inspo and start something to scratch the itch…a Facebook page, a Tumblr (back in the day…ok, like eight years ago), a Medium profile, LinkedIn articles. Like a non-committal girlfriend, for the past decade+, I’ve been lily padding around in search of greener UI pastures. Now enter my latest endeavor, Substack. Like all good starts, I was inspired. By who? Meet my friend, Ashley Heider Daly. 👭🏻
All good stories have a good beginning and I think ours is super fun. Ashley and I met almost 20 years ago (Jesus, I have never written or said that before. Girl, we old.) in high school Newswriting. We were baby journalists writing for our school’s newspaper, The Trojan Torch. She was a year older than me, so we weren’t BFF (yet). Flash forward, we went to the same college but our paths didn’t really cross (we like a slow burn). Zoooooom, another flash forward—after I moved back home to Tulsa in 2021 she reached out on the Instagrams to say we should hang out (time to let the sparks fly). The universe was determined for us to meet again and this time, to become close friends. Bonus: Her daughter is one of those kids you meet and you’re like, “Hey, she is so cool. I could have a kid!” I am convinced that is how the world keeps propagating new humans. 😂
Anyone who knows Ashley knows this tracks. She is known for inspiring her neighbors, friends, and family. She is a beam of human light and genuine encouragement.
Ok, get to the point, Cassie.
Ok, so what does this all have to do with why I’m here and you are here reading this? Ashley recently started a newsletter and I gobbled it up like a hungry, hungry hippo. It was delicious, and as I licked my fingers, it made me miss writing myself. So, alas, that is why you are here. And I am here. I mean, not like here-here in the Universe or whatever, but here…me on my computer writing this and you in your inbox reading this.
And now…
I’m going to use this pixelated space to write about and explore my own thoughts on organizing all the things, being a new mom, processing grief, why relationships are hard, work-life (maybe…probably), cultivating a home, and definitely cats. If any of those topics resonate with you, I hope you’ll get comfy, pull up a chair, and stay for a while. Let’s talk.
Excited you’re here,
Cassie
